Brumley, the Founder of the legendary American music company rich in Gospel, Americana and Country traditions. On Thursday, October 29, 2015, The Brumley Music Company will launch a series of programs and promotions nationwide to celebrate 110 years of Albert E. Brumley who created the most recorded song of all time “I’ll Fly Away” and hundreds of others. The rich heritage and traditions of Brumley Music reach deep into the music industry in segments of Gospel, Country, Americana, Bluegrass and more. When Brumley began writing music in the late 1920s, he never imagined his songs would go on to become such an iconic part of music history. It was hits like “I’ll Meet You in the Morning,” “Turn Your Radio On,” “Rank Strangers To Me,” “Jesus Hold My Hand” and “If We Never Meet Again” that solidified Albert’s profound place in the music world and produced so many longstanding favorites of our time. hwyEven a highway in Powell, Missouri is named after the late, great musician. Artists like Keith Urban, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, George Jones, Alison Krauss, Mumford & Sons, Alan Jackson, Vince Gil, Jars of Clay, Aretha Franklin, Johnny Cash, The Oak Ridge Boys, Crystal Gayle, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and even Kanye West have recorded or performed one if not more of Brumley’s original o-brother-where-art-thousongs. Songs from Brumley Music have received 9 GRAMMY Awards, 25 GRAMMY nominations, won countless DOVE Awards, IBMA, CMA, ACM and Americana Awards. “I’ll Fly Away” greatly influenced the TV show by the same name which won three Golden Globe Awards, five Golden Globe nominations, 3 Emmy Awards, received 23 Emmy nominations, won a Peabody Award and four NAACP Awards. Albert E. Brumley’s music was also featured prominently in the legendary hit television series “The Waltons” and in Spike Lee’s documentary “When the Levees Broke.” His music was also featured in the movie “O’ Brother Where Art Thou” which starred George Clooney and the eight-time Platinum selling soundtrack. The HBO series “Treme” also featured music by Brumley. And movies including “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “The Apostle” and “Daddy’s Dyin, Who’s Got the Will” also featured his music.

To commemorate the 110th Birthday of the legendary yet simple man, the Brumley Music Company will launch several new marketing programs for fans to celebrate the milestone. Some of the company’s new marketing initiatives include a new and interactive website (www.brumleymusic.com) and the introduction of “Mr. Brumley,” a caricature resembling Albert E. Brumley that will be used in the company’s foundation’s (I’ll Fly Away Foundation) school songwriting programs as well as nationwide events and social media promotions. The company has also launched a new aggressive social media campaign providing new content and news to fans and supporters nationwide. An exclusive celebratory music video giving tribute to Brumley will launch via the website on what would have been Albert’s 110th birthday, October 29, 2015 at 8am EST.

Brumley Spirit Award in 2016. The award will be given to an aspiring musician who exemplifies the music, passion and legacy of Albert E. Brumley. The 110th Birthday of Albert E. Brumley is intended to be a year-long celebration.

Albert E. Brumley’s awards include Inductions into the Country Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma and Arkansas Music Hall of Fame. His name graces a 13 miles stretch of a highway in McDonald County, Missouri and he was named one of only five persons in the U.S. whose contributions directly affected 20th Century Gospel Music by the Gospel Music Association in Nashville, Tennessee. His songs have been inducted into the SESAC Hall of Fame and he has received “Citations of Achievement” from BMI Nashville. The Smithsonian Institute made a study of Gospel Music naming Albert E. Brumley “the greatest Gospel songwriter before WWII.”
